About
Seamus is a former operator with more than 30 years of business leadership experience across a wide array of company sizes and types. He's the former CEO of TD Bank USA, cofounded a successful data analytics company and led Booz Allen’s global financial services practice.
Seamus has also counseled and advised CEOs and senior executives in startups and Fortune 500 companies in banking, brokerage, enterprise software, industrial equipment and hospitality. He's helped optimize leadership skills, counsel during difficult periods and transitions and supported with career planning. Seamus has worked with a number of venture capital and private equity portfolio companies and several early and growth-stage companies.
Case Studies
Major Reduction in Force (RIF)
Helped an international fintech plan, execute and follow up on a sizeable staff reduction, necessitated by changing market conditions. Advised on internal and external messaging, allocation of responsibilities, timing, channels and extra engagement with the remaining team. Results: Little negative publicity, injury to morale was relatively minor and the leadership team worked in concert.
Dealing With a Fractured Board
Board was divided between one faction looking for early exit/liquidity and one focused on continued growth and later, larger exit. Unfortunately, there was unproductive, largely behind the scenes lobbying and complaining. Helped the CEO forge a direct and productive debate with options for the company and the various investors.
Helping a CFO Become a Strategic Counselor
The CFO’s superpower was FP&A but they were less of a contributor on marketplace dynamics, competition and alternative paths to value creation. Worked with the CFO on scenario planning and top down communications to increase their value to the CEO and the board.
